Stories and highlights

There's always something to celebrate at Dunedoo Central School! From exciting events to proud moments and everyday wins, we have wonderful successes all year round. What makes our school even more special are the highlights that come with being a central school in a vibrant regional area.

Whole School Staffing Days

One of the constructive benefits of being a central school is the ability to enjoy activities on a whole-school basis. Sporting carnivals are an obvious example, but here at Dunedoo Central School we take it one step further each term with a Whole School Staffing Day. These days involve all students and teachers in a variety of workshops and activities that link to a theme (for example Art 4 Youth, NAIDOC Week and Wellbeing), and are much anticipated by students each term.

Sporting carnivals

Unlike most schools, our carnivals are attended by the whole school. This not only gives the day a fabulous festive air, it also encourages teamwork, camaraderie and mentoring that is impossible to replicate. For these reasons, our carnivals are invaluable for giving the younger students role models to aspire to, and in the same way give older students an ability to foster and nurture relationships with their younger peers.

Visits with local businesses

Our local community has always enjoyed being heavily involved in Dunedoo Central School. Businesses provide work experience for older students across a variety of industries, and classes are often welcomed on site visits to locations and events that complement units of study.

A year at our school

We have many welcoming spaces to enjoy, including the Yarning Circle, which is used for both structured lessons and break times.

Our "Hands On" Wall gives a bright and vibrant welcome to visitors, and reminds everyone of our positive 'helping hand' approach.

At Dunedoo Central School, students from Kindergarten to Year 12 have the opportunity to be involved in activities at our Ag Plot.
